Field Trips: Lower Sioux Agency
The US-Dakota War of 1862 broke out at this site, which today presents Dakota culture and history, including the causes of the war.
Lower Sioux Agency is managed by the Lower Sioux Indian Community in partnership with the Minnesota Historical Society. To book your field trip, email lowersioux@mnhs.org.
School Tour
Program designed for grades K-12.
Walk the trails, see the 1861 stone warehouse, and tour exhibits about Dakota culture, US treaties, and a war that changed our nation. Cultural and historical presentations, outreach programming, and classroom presentations available year-round.
Explore new experiences throughout the site including scavenger hunts, QR codes, an outdoor atlatl range, multi-tactile learning station, and a virtual reality exhibit.

- $40 minimum group fee
Admission costs are for anyone age 4 and over. Memberships and 6th grade passes are not valid on field trips.
