Zebulon Pike

An explorer and U.S. Army officer. In 1805 he led an party to search for the source of the Mississippi River, and signed a treaty with Dakota people for land near the junction of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers, or B'dote, where Fort Snelling was later built.
