State Emblems Redesign Commission

Thank you to the Minnesotans and others who participated in this important process by submitting design concepts, commenting on designs, and volunteering to further the Commission’s work. Images of the new state flag and seal can be found in the Commission's final report. 

This website will remain up as a resource for several months. Since the Commission has completed its work, the web page will no longer be accepting comments.

On December 19, 2023, The State Emblems Redesign Commission adopted the image below as the final design for the next state flag. Click here for additional images and a statement to the Commission from the designer of the original concept.

On December 15, 2023, the State Emblems Redesign Commission selected F1953 as the basis for the next state flag. Modifications to the design will be made at the Commission's next meeting on Tuesday, December 19th. 

On December 12, 2023, the State Emblems Redesign Commission voted to adopt design modifications to the official Great Seal of the State of Minnesota.

On December 12, 2023, the State Emblems Redesign Commission selected the following submissions as the basis for the next state flag. Modifications to these designs will be made. Click images below to read the designers' statements.

On December 5, 2023, the State Emblems Redesign Commission unanimously voted to move forward with the following design as the basis for the official Great Seal of the State of Minnesota, subject to expected modifications.

More than 2,600 designs were submitted for the new Minnesota state flag and seal during the public submission period that ended on October 30, 2023. View qualifying submissions through the links below.
