Chronology
1891
St. Paul Commerce Club is incorporated. It is located in the Germania Life Insurance Building in St. Paul.
1909
Commercial Club members announce their intention to build a centralized building for the association and other similar groups.
1911
Several business associations merge to form the St. Paul Association of Commerce.
1912
Construction of the Commerce Building is completed.
1920
The St. Paul Commerce Association oversees the consolidation of charities into the St. Paul Community Chest.
1921
The ten-year lease held by the St. Paul Commercial Association expires. The Commercial Club dissolves. The Minnesota Life Insurance Company moves into the Commerce Building.
1937
St. Paul Federal Saving and Loan and the Minneapolis Savings and Loan Association open offices on the ground floor of the Commerce Building. The ground floor also includes a barber shop and liquor store.
1947
The ground floor exterior of the building is renovated.
2007
The St. Paul Commerce Building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
2008
The St. Paul Commerce Building is renovated, creating an apartment complex.
