One of the coldest winters on record settles on Minnesota and neighboring states.
February 8, 1936
The worst snowstorm recorded in Cottonwood County during the first half of the twentieth century buries local buildings and vehicles in snow.
February 17, 1936
A second storm causes road closures and stops rail traffic and mail delivery for two days.
February 25, 1936
After a brief thaw, another storm drops ten inches of snow in Cottonwood County, again putting a halt to transportation.
