Learn
Tribal groups, including the Dakota, Ioway, and Cheyenne, continue to honor the Jeffers Petroglyphs site as a sacred space, just as their ancestors have done for thousands of years. Visitors will learn about the unique stories, histories, and Native American cultural connections at this important site and surrounding landscape.
The Minnesota Historical Society thanks the members of the Dakota community and the staff and volunteers of the Jeffers Petroglyphs historic site for their stewardship of the petroglyphs. In 2004, the National Trust for Historic Preservation awarded MNHS a Trustee Emeritus Award for Excellence in the Stewardship of Historic Sites.
