Position Summary
This is a position for teens who want to learn about museums “behind the scenes” by working with public programs staff at the Minnesota History Center to develop and deliver events for the public.
Members of TAC will:
- Create event elements for the Minnesota History Center’s Family Day programs
- Create publicity information and work to promote the opening event
- Provide interpretation of a support for the opening event
- Communicate with various members of the Twin Cities community
Qualifications
- High School Sophomore, Junior or Senior
- Available for Tuesday meetings from 4-6 PM and Saturday morning workdays (2-4 weekends a month) from 10 AM to 2 PM
- Available to work between 9 AM and 5 PM on the following Saturdays: February 20, March 26, and May 1
- Enjoy working with the general public, especially children
- Have well-developed communication skills
- Be prepared to critically engage with staff and gallery assistants in conversations during internship meetings and field trips
Selection Process
After an initial screening, applicants will schedule an interview with museum staff.
Required Documents
- HR paperwork and financial paperwork
- Permission form and photo release
- Letter of recommendation from non-family adult
Time Commitment
Weekly TAC meetings will be from 4-6 PM Tuesdays, starting January 5, 2016. A person in this position must arrive on time and stay for the entire meeting and/or shift. Availability to work between 9 AM and 5 PM on the following Saturdays: February 20, March 26, and May 1.
