Hay you!

Donate to the Oliver Kelley Feed Fund

Did you know horses can eat about 20 pounds of hay every single day? And with horses, cattle, sheep, pigs and chickens on the farm, we go through a whole lot of hay (and other animal feed). Help us provide the food, shelter, and veterinary care our animals need to thrive by donating to the Oliver Kelley Feed Fund. Every dollar will help keep our farm animals happy and healthy.

Here’s what you make possible with your gift:

  • $5: One daily feed for a senior horse (that's 6 pounds!)
  • $10: A 50-pound square bale of hay (a draft horse can eat up to 40lbs. per day!)
  • $15: One daily hoof vitamin supplement for a draft horse
  • $65: One multiple-mix vaccine
  • $75: One gallon of fly spray protection for horses

Meet Our Friends

Blaze

Blaze

Born: 2009
Breed: Milking Shorthorn

Now a retiree, Blaze has been on the farm since he was about 5 months old. A gentle, 3,000 lb ox, Blaze knows how to walk backwards and forwards on command and how to turn. (Haw! Gee!) Blaze enjoys cucumbers and carrot tops, and loves to lick a wool coat.

Max

Max

Born: May 16, 2024
Breed: Babydoll Southdown

Max was born on the farm and lives here with his mom, Rachel, and his aunts. Sweet and friendly, he is curious about visitors and often enjoys pets. He has a spunky side, and has been known to discover gaps in fences so that he can grab a snack of nice, green grass. Max is also trained to walk on a leash!

Merryweather

Merryweather

Hatched: 2025
Breed: Dark Brahma

If you meet one chicken in your life, make it Merryweather. Our friendly hen, Merryweather is vocal and enjoys cuddles. When she sees you, sometimes she actually comes running to say hello!

Jack

Jack

Born: 1999
Breed: Percheron

Jack is a working draft horse and has never been ridden! He sometimes acts like a grumpy old man, but he is happiest when he has company. Though blind in one eye, he perseveres! – and has helped pull many farm implements and trolleys in his life.

Zelda

Zelda

Born: May 9, 2023
Breed: Polypay

Zelda is adventurous and likes to sneak out of gates. On several occasions, she has led the crew of polypay sheep all the way to the visitor center to look in the windows! She is sweet and friendly, but always scheming.

Pippin

Pippin

Hatched: 2023
Breed: Polish

Our littlest hen (and perhaps most stylish), Pippin is tiny but fierce. Sometimes, she tries to play hide-and-seek, unaware that she is rather easy to find with her black and white feathers. When Pippin can actually see you coming from behind her impressive hat, she makes very cute chittering noises.
