ST. PAUL, Minn (June 29, 2023) – Visitors to the Minnesota History Center will get a chance to learn something new about Minnesota's most famous cartoonist and the world he created at a new exhibit this summer.
Charles M. Schulz debuted his first Peanuts comic strip over 50 years ago. By introducing lovable characters including Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the rest of the Peanuts gang to the world, Schulz used his comics to explore the emotional territory of friendship, faith, tolerance, and disappointment.
Running from July 22, 2023 - June 9, 2024, The Life and Art of Charles M. Schulz Exhibit will teach Minnesota History Center visitors about Schulz’s personal history and his role as the artist and inspiration behind Peanuts and its beloved cast of characters. This interactive exhibit follows Schulz from his Minnesota roots to his later years in California, tracking the development of the unique characters that make up the world of Peanuts.
Dozens of Peanuts comic strips, along with photographs, quotes, and unique objects from Minnesota Historical Society collections help tell the story behind the creation of this popular and influential cartoon strip. Additional family-friendly exhibit features include a lounge with books, puzzles, and drawing tables to sketch Peanuts fan favorites.
