ST. PAUL, Minn (September 28, 2023) – Cyclists can take part in a unique ride around the Twin Cities this fall. On October 7, the James J. Hill House will serve as the hub for the 2023 Twin Cities Tweed Ride and Lawn Party.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their bicycles and wear vintage fashions as they enjoy a leisurely bike ride through some of the most historic neighborhoods in St. Paul and Minneapolis. This free event will also include an after-ride lawn party at the Hill House.
At 9 am, the James J. Hill House grounds will open. Attendees can enjoy complimentary coffee and light refreshments, as well as shop the Minneapolis Vintage Market. The Tweed ride begins at 10 am, departing from the Hill House and heading east along Summit Avenue. The route then heads towards downtown Minneapolis, as riders will cross the Stone Arch Bridge to the first stop at Mill City Museum.
After participants have a chance to check out the Mill City Farmer’s Market and historic mill ruins, the journey continues at 1 pm, departing for Hennepin History Museum. After a short break, the group will return to the James J. Hill House, concluding the 23-mile ride.
Riders and non-riders alike are welcome to join the after-ride lawn party in front of the Hill House beginning at 3 pm, which will include lawn games, live music by the Gritpickers, and a free ice cream social.
This event is free and open to all; admission to the James J. Hill House, Mill City Museum, and Hennepin History Museum not included. More information is available online.
