GRAND RAPIDS, Minn. (November 20, 2023) – The Forest History Center is giving guests a new way to experience winter in the Northwoods this season with horse-drawn sleigh rides around the site grounds.

Visitors can enjoy an hour-long ride aboard a sleigh drawn by the Forest History Center’s new draft horses. Each Saturday from November 25 to February 24, rides will take place at 10 am, 11:30 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:30 pm. The experience will last approximately one hour, which includes a stop to warm up and enjoy hot cocoa, time around a bonfire, and a sledding hill.

The Forest History Center will also offer private sleigh rides each Tuesday through Friday this winter. Interested visitors can call and reserve a spot for up to 16 people during site hours. Private tours are available November 28 through February 23.

Visitors will be able to enjoy the rides with or without snow on the ground. The sleigh and sledding hill are dependent on snow. If there is not enough snow, a horse-drawn trolley ride may be substituted.

More information about sleigh rides at the Forest History Center is available online.
