TWO HARBORS, Minn. (August 5, 2025) – Breathtaking views of the cosmos are on the horizon. In partnership with the Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium, Split Rock Lighthouse is excited to host its annual Dark Sky Night on Tuesday, August 12. Guests will have the opportunity to learn new photography techniques and bask in the star light.

Professional photographer John Gregor will begin the evening by sharing his approach to capturing the night sky. Attendees can learn how to prepare for shoots, select the ideal location, and choose the right exposure settings. Gregor will also give hands-on demonstrations and show how he enhances images using software available to both professional and amateur photographers.

Following the photography presentation, planetarium staff will have telescopes available for stargazing. Visitors can follow along with live tours of notable constellations. Alternative activities and digital sky tours will be available in case of cloudy weather.

All guests are encouraged to pack a head lamp and bug spray, and dress appropriately for the weather. Visitors can register for this event online in advance.
