Program Specialist for Digital Projects, Emilee Dehmer, was out in front of the James J. Hill house filming Tom Braun, Senior Objects Conservator, and Liz Koele, Historical Marker Project Lead, making an instructional video about cleaning markers. MNHS Announces Legacy Large Grant Recipients

A Moment in History: The Creation of Line O' Lakes
Much like the moving staircases in popular fantasy novels, the borders of towns, villages, townships, and even the county itself have shifted through time.
The community known today as Centerville has gone through a host of changes since the first settler built a structure there in the 1850s. In the earliest years of the Minnesota Territory, Centerville belonged to Ramsey County. When impending statehood caused the government to redraw the county lines, Centerville became part of Anoka County. Unlike what we know today, the boundaries of Centerville differed significantly, encompassing not only what is now Centerville, but all of Lino Lakes and a small section of Circle Pines. 2023 MN History Award Nominations
Since 2009, MALHM has taken the opportunity at its Annual Meeting to recognize exceptional history work carried out by local history organizations in the state. This includes a formal nomination process with review by a panel of local history peers to determine which nominations will receive an award. At this time, there are two distinct history award programs: the Minnesota History Awards and the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Brown County Historical Society is pleased to announce Amy Johnson as its new executive director at its 92nd Annual Meeting. Johnson currently is the BCHS programs and volunteer services coordinator and has worked with the BCHS since April 2020. Johnson graduated from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, majoring in theater and history, and holds a masters degree from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco.
