On October 16, Heritage Preservation, Planning & Outreach staff visited the Minnesota Firefighters Museum in Minneapolis to get an update on their grant-funded project to inventory their collection. The museum preserves and interprets the history of firefighting in the state.
On November 2 and 3, members of the Historic Resources Advisory Committee (HRAC) held a public meeting at the Minnesota History Center to discuss 80 applications to the Minnesota Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants Program. The large grant round had over $6 million available this year, and there were more than $12 million in requests among the 80 applications. The recommendations will be forwarded to the MNHS Executive Committee in December for final approval.
Heritage Partnership Program
Shared Services is one of four categories of partnerships the Heritage Partnership Program can fund. Partners may individually provide similar services to the public or contract with service providers to accomplish common goals. Streamlining services for greater efficiency will allow for a more comprehensive public benefit. The application must thoroughly demonstrate that the partners and their customers will benefit from the shared services and that the partners can sustain the results of the shared services beyond the grant period. The mandatory pre-application deadline for Heritage Partnership Program Grants is Friday, January 26, 2024. Learn more »
