This year, we celebrate 50 years of Hmong in Minnesota. Starting November 5, 1975, the Hmong community here began to call Minnesota home. As we mark this 50-year milestone, we reflect on the journey and look towards the future.

The Minnesota Historical Society is hosting the Hmong 50th Story contest in which Hmong Minnesotans are invited to produce a creative piece reflecting on the questions*:

*Participants should respond to any or all of these questions.

Participants can submit any creative work such as writing an essay, creating visual art, making a video, writing a song (paj huam, kwv txhiaj), and more!

A winner will be selected from youth (K-8th grade), young adult (9-12th grade), and adult/elder age groups.
