Forest History Center

The Forest History Center is located on 170 acres and is just minutes from downtown Grand Rapids. Here, the history of the forest comes alive as you explore the site.
General Admission grants access to the visitor center, fire tower and re-created logging camp, as well as 5 miles of hiking trails.
The visitor center includes a museum of logging history, movies about log drives and forest fires, and a gift shop. In the logging camp you can explore eight recreated buildings representing a logging camp from 1900 and hear stories from costumed interpreters. Our 100 foot tall fire tower provides spectacular views of the Mississippi River and surrounding area.
Upon arrival, please show your printed or electronic ticket at the ticketing desk in the visitor center.
