About This Event
One Minnesota writer dubbed Beatrice Ojakangas “Our Scandinavian Julia Child.” It’s an appropriate title for the chef and author committed to preserving Nordic and Scandinavian cuisine. Through her cookbooks, plus radio and TV appearances, Ojakangas makes cooking and baking accessible while foregrounding quality ingredients.
Join us for a special screening of Baking with Julia featuring “our Scandinavian Julia Child” as she demonstrates how to make a variety of Danish pastry pockets. The moderated conversation after the screening will feature Bea Ojakangas, along with stories about both Bea and Julia from Eleanor Ostman (former recipe columnist for the Pioneer Press), and Elaine Kumpula (Honorary Consul for Finland). Conversation will continue at the reception afterwards.
The event starts at 11:00 am in the 3M Auditorium. This free program will feature a screening moderated conversation with Bea Ojakangas, a Q&A session, and book signing. Books will be available for purchase. Registration is recommended, but not required.
If you're unable to attend in person, the event is also accessible virtually via Zoom: https://mnhs-org.zoom.us/j/88287515969.
A paid ticket or museum membership is required to visit the Julia Child: A Recipe for Life exhibition.
