About This Event
Steve Watson has been an avid collector of antique firearms since the 1960s. While growing up in Cambridge, the local butcher had many firearms on display, and he was able to purchase a few of them to start his collecting odyssey. He will share some of the more interesting items including:
-
A selection of The Northwest Trade Guns date 1818-1876.
-
A model 1717 French Musket. The first standard infantry arm of the French army. Archaeological work at the Battle of Guilford Courthouse has proved that these were used by Continental forces. The survival rate of these is very low. This gun survived the Seven Years' War and the American Revolution.
-
A shortland Pattern Brown Bess Musket. With markings indicating use by Continental forces after being captured from the British.
-
A songland Pattern Brown Bess Musket, dated 1761 (French & Indian War, American Rev.)
-
A doglock Blunderbuss dating 1680-1690. A favorite of pirates.
