About This Event

Four days a year, the Minnesota Historical Society will provide FREE admission to its historic sites and museums! Take this opportunity to learn more about our state's history, at no cost to you.

Free admission dates for the 2025 - 2026 season:

  • June 28
  • Sept 20
  • Jan 10, 2026
  • April 25, 2026

The historic sites and museums that usually have an admission fee but will be FREE on these days include:

METRO

  • James J. Hill House, St. Paul
  • Historic Fort Snelling, St. Paul
    • Hosting Big Red Wagon food truck
  • Mill City Museum, Minneapolis
    • The Flour Tower elevator show will not be available.
    • See a flour dust explosion and learn the story behind the deadly Washburn A Mill explosion of 1878.
    • Make-it, take-it activities
  • Minnesota History Center, St. Paul
  • Oliver Kelley Farm, Elk River

GREATER MINNESOTA

  • Charles Lindbergh House and Museum, Little Falls
  • Comstock House, Moorhead
  • Folsom House, Taylors Falls
  • Forest History Center, Grand Rapids
  • Historic Forestville, Preston
  • Jeffers Petroglyphs, Comfrey
  • Lower Sioux Agency, Morton
  • Mille Lacs Indian Museum and Trading Post, Onamia
  • Sibley Historic Site, Mendota
  • Snake River Fur Post, Pine City
  • Split Rock Lighthouse, Two Harbors
  • W.W. Mayo House, Le Sueur
