Indictment against defendant for the crime of Instigating a Riot returned
and filed July 14, 1920
Defendant present in court and duly arraigned. Defendant waives the reading of the indictment and was given a copy thereof. Defendant informs the court that his true name is John Carl Alfred Hammerberg and order made continuing proceeding under that name. O. J. Larson appears as counsel for the defendant. Defendant enters a plea of not guilty. Jury duly empanelled and sworn to try defendant. Verdict returned and filed. Defendant before the court for sentence previous to which he was sworn and interrogated as to his business and trade and sentenced as follows: It is the judgment and sentence of the court that you Carl John Alfred Hammerberg as a punishment for the crime of instigating a riot of which you have been duly convicted be taken by the Sheriff of this county to the Minnesota State Reformatory at St. Cloud in this state and that you be there confined subject to the rules and regulations of that institution and the laws of this state. |
